A couple of weeks ago I got back from a short business trip to the UK and Paris. I had been asked to present at a conference in Cambridge so it was really nice to have had the opportunity to go over. It had been 17 years since I had last visited those shores and back then the only camera I had was an incredibly basic film camera. You can imagine how excited I was to be heading back with my DSLR, three lenses, filter and tripod.
The photo’s I’m posting tonight could probably be described as the typical ‘postcard’ type shots. With only 10 days spread between London, Cambridge and Paris, all I really did was visit the familiar tourist sights. Having said that, it was still an amazing time and I really enjoyed seeing many of these places again.
You’ll recognise that the photo’s with Big Ben are all 3 bracket HDR images. The shots of the London Eye are just single exposures. What surprised (and aggravated) me was the fact that you weren’t allowed to set up a tripod along the boardwalk leading up to the London Eye. Consequently, the shots of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament from across the water were all taken handheld. The rest of these shots were done using the tripod though.

Oh, and let me give a big shout out to all the new followers who have subscribed to this little blog in the last week. Cheers Trevor! Sorry for taking so long to acknowledge your comment but for some reason it went into the spam folder. Very strange.
London is such a gorgeous city with so much to see and do. I was suppose I was really lucky with the weather when I visited. It was warm and balmy and the few days I was in town I was treated to beautiful sunsets.

Such a nice thing to say James, thank you so, so much. I’m sorry, but your comment was another I missed. It seems I’ve had heaps of gremlins in my WordPress notification centre and Reader this year. Its been really frustrating.
