Sydney 2013 New Years Eve Fireworks

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

I’ve not long come home after spending a wonderful afternoon and evening with friends on Sydney’s beautiful harbour foreshore. This year, we watched from the Sydney suburb of Rose Bay. It’s an awesome view as you look straight down the harbour. The Harbour bridge stands front-and-centre with the Opera House to its left and the North shore skyline to the right.

As usual, the city put on another spectacular show. Its a truly wonderful backdrop to a pyrotechnics display that heralds in the new year.

So, where-ever you are in the world, I wish you all a safe and prosperous 2014! Hope you too have a wonderful time when the clock strikes midnight where you are.

Now I need to get to bed (it’s 2.50am. I’ve set the alarm for 5am so I can catch the first rays of this years sunrise down at Bronte. Here’s hoping I wake up!).

I lost my spot between the 9pm and midnight fireworks shows and had to move further up the hill for the remaining shots. Unfortunately, a pergola obstructed the view a little at the bottom of the frame.

Above: The ‘waterfall’ from the bottom deck of the Harbour Bridge. The wind had dropped off almost completely so a lot of smoke obstructed the view of the Bridge towards the end of the show. There’s a slight shake in the tripod in this shot but at least you can get an idea about what the effect looked like. Now, just imagine more fireworks going off across the top of the bridges upper arch and you can appreciate how spectacular it can all look like.
