Earls Court and Harrods, UK

Earls Court station

Another quick post because I’m teaching in the morning and am only looking at 3 hours sleep… again ;-(.

When I was in London recently I stayed in the area known as Earls Court. I decided this for a number of reasons, namely; it was reasonably priced (for London); I could get to and from Heathrow without having to change trains with my luggage, and it was on the Circle and Piccadilly lines – which made it easy to get around to the main attractions in downtown London via the Tube. Considering I was only there for a couple of days before needing to be in Cambridge, it worked out really, really well.

Anyway, the first half of these shots where taken near where I was staying (I was only about 100 metres from Earls Court Station); the rest of the photo’s were of that famous institution, Harrods. I’d never been before and whilst I’m not a big shopper I thought I may as well drop in and have a brief look. Even though its starting to look a little tired, I couldn’t help but be impressed with its architecture. In its heyday I’m sure it would of been the ‘toast of the town’ for shoppers all over the UK.

Hehe. Thanks very much for that. I managed to get off to bed at 3.30am. I suppose the only advantage of not having a regular sleeping schedule is that I don’t get jet-lagged terribly. Hardly a ringing endorsement of a bad habit. 🙂

  3. Hi Distan,
Love the shots, especially the tube carriage, and the processing on the stair shot is bang on. Great work!

Thanks so much JP Collins, they’re generous comments. Black and white imagery can be so timeless can’t it. It’s frustratingly difficult to do well and that’s all I can do is to keep practicing. Appreciate you taking the time to comment too…and my apologies for taking so long to reply :-).
