Milson’s Point at night (part I)

I got itchy feet last night. So much so that at 11.30pm, I jumped into the car and drove into the city. My intention was to shoot some of the CBD skyscrapers – you know, all lit up with glassy reflections bouncing around. No luck! I had forgotten that starting yesterday, the Harbour Bridge was closed from 10pm – 5am for resurfacing. With my original plans dashed, I found my way down to Milson’s Point (still on the northern side of the bridge) right next to the iconic Luna Park. Here then are the first couple of shots from the evenings sortie.

Oh, and I’m trying out a new theme too – I’d love to hear what you think.

One other thing, I’ve been playing around with my photo export options this morning. I read somewhere that 1024*700 is a reasonably good sharing size – if you want to see the embedded post images at that size you’ll have to click on them individually.

I love the photos. I got a view of Luna Park from the ferry, and would love to take a closer look. I immediately thought of the film ‘Big’ with Tom Hanks – I guess that was Coney Island? My wife says she never went there when she lived in Sydney, but we have a kid now, so we have lots of reasons to go now.

I like the theme. The typography is good, and it’s a clean look. I’m still searching for my ideal theme. I thought Autofocus was it, but it doesn’t combine featured images well with emailing out posts and rss.

They have a Coney Island there too. Its largely original so it has this real ‘old-world’ feel to it. I really like it. Its not very big (as far amusement parks go) but the setting is a show stopper.
Thanks for your thoughts about the theme; its difficult isn’t it? There are some themes that just about tick all the boxes but then fall at the last hurdle. I quite like the eye-candy of the featured slider in this one even though I’m not sure it quite fits with my photoblog.

Thanks for the feedback Karen. I liked the former theme as it displayed posts in 4 columns (I don’t like excessive scrolling). I figured any visitors could quickly see a number of posts (and their featured images) and click through to those that caught their fancy. I only wished it displayed your most recent post more prominently, and by that I mean bigger.
I agree with you that this theme seems to honor image posts well.
